A day and a season.

Think of this as one of those sunny, pleasant "indian summer" days in September or October. The sunny sky has a few fair-weather clouds. The distant hill is covered with green pines and brightly colored maples, oaks, birches. One stands in a field of tawny weeds and flowers gazing out at this scene, in which all the trees are perfectly colored at the same time and intimately mixed -- a situation seldom seen in reality.

The effort here is to capture the "essence" of such a fall day, not its every detail.
