Imagine a cool raw cloudy late-winter day. On the left a barren woodland and on the right a weedy field in tawny-beige colors. There is patchy snow on the ground with its implied promise that winter is retreating.

This image was inspired by the thought of creating a March image for a calendar. What is March really like? In a northern climate it's a month when winter lingers, but people long for the soft breath of spring.
